Skiing in the Chiemgau

The perfect vacation in the snow – the Chiemgau offers the perfect conditions for winter sports enthusiasts and lovers.

The largest ski area in the vacation region is the German-Austrian Winklmoosalm/Steinplatte area in Reit im Winkl, with around 50 kilometers of slopes that promise guaranteed snow and skiing fun.

Lovers of natural snow will get their money’s worth on the Hochfelln: perfectly groomed slopes, freeride runs and a hearty stop at the mountain huts promise complete skiing pleasure.

Naturparadies Hochfelln

In the Chiemgau mountains, a natural snow paradise in a class of its own awaits you in the Hochfelln ski area. Perfectly groomed slopes and varied descents await you. The Hochfelln cable car takes you up to the summit at 1,674 m.

You can enjoy a breathtaking view over the Central Alps and the Chiemsee. From the summit, you have to first conquer the black slope to the middle station. This demanding slope is particularly recommended for experienced skiers and snowboarders and offers a nice challenge with its steep entrance. The ski area is also very popular with freeriders.

The blue slopes at the Bründling-Alm are particularly suitable for families with children. Little skiers can let off steam on the practice lift at the valley station of the Hochfelln cable car.

Numerous mountain huts around the ski area and the Hochfelln-Haus, the highest inn in Chiemgau, provide refreshments. The Hochfellnblick panorama restaurant awaits you at the middle station. Enjoy the view and fortify yourself with Bavarian specialties. The homemade Kaiserschmarrn is highly recommended.

Winklmoosalm / Steinplatte

The Winklmoosalm/Steinplatte ski paradise offers an unforgettable winter ski vacation for the whole family. In the middle of the Chiemgau Alps, you will find breathtaking slopes. Whether beginner or advanced – pure pleasure in the snow! On a total of 16 slopes with around 50 kilometers, every winter sports lover will get their money’s worth. The SnowPark is also a highlight for freestylers. Four lines in three sections promise pure adventure.

Culinary delights, enjoyment and tradition at 8 ski huts! Large sun terraces with a breathtaking view over the Alps ensure your unforgettable winter vacation. In the cozy restaurants you can enjoy Bavarian and Austrian delicacies. Mulled wine, hunter’s tea and local schnapps will warm you up.

Our tip: If you are planning a week’s winter ski vacation, use the 3 Länder Freizeit Arena Ticket. Unlimited skiing fun on more than 164 kilometers of slopes. The following ski areas are included: Winklmoosalm ski area – Steinplatte – St. Johann – St. Jakob – St. Ulrich – Kirchdorf – Erpfendorf-Lärchenhof – Almenwelt Lofer – Unken / Heutal.
