IN THE REGION

The Chiemgau is a paradise for every biker!

Whether it’s a leisurely bike tour, a family excursion, a mountain tour or a mountain bike trail.

– a multitude of possibilities are available for you.

Explore the numerous routes and enjoy the Bavarian nature.

CHIEMSEE CIRCULAR ROUTE

It is rightly one of the most beautiful foot and cycle paths in Bavaria, if not Germany, and is highly recommended for leisure cyclists. The calming lake landscape with an impressive Alpine panorama makes every vacationer’s heart beat faster.

At approx. 60 km and 221 meters in altitude, the cycle route has only a few slight inclines and is therefore ideal for family cyclists. The route leads along country lanes, asphalted cycle paths and side roads and can be ridden on standard touring bikes.

It leads past numerous bathing spots, cafés and restaurants and offers the opportunity to visit the Herreninsel with the famous Herrenchiemsee Castle and the Fraueninsel at several ship landing docks.

Priental Radweg

Along the Prientalweg trail, you will pass various sights and excursion destinations. Your journey begins in Schafwaschen Bay, where an incredible sunrise promises a great start to the day. In Prien, the local history museum would be a good place for your first cultural stop.

Pass through Prien in the direction of Aschau i. Chiemgau. Hohenaschau Castle awaits you there or you can stop at the Kampenwandbahn cable car. In Sachrang, you can follow in the footsteps of the organist, choirmaster, composer and lay doctor at the Müller Peter Museum.

Kneipp pools along the route promise soothing refreshment for your legs.

16 ICE AGE LAKE TOUR

Rimsting – Pittenhart – Schnaitsee – Obing – Seeon – Eggstätt – Rimsting

The protected area is one of the most valuable in Bavaria!

After the last ice age, the Chiemsee and Inn glaciers retreated, forming large lakes in the terminal moraines. The long circular tour can be started in any of the stage towns. You can take shortcuts along the almost 70-kilometre route as you wish.

The Griessee, Brunnensee and Seeleitensee lakes lie between Obing and Seeon. Seeon is home to the famous Seeon Monastery, which is located on an island in the Klostersee. It is one of the most important stops on the 16 Lakes Tour.

From the northern shore of Lake Chiemsee, the route leads through Hemhofer Holz. The Langbürgner See lake is on the right and is the heart of the Hemhof-Eggstätter-Seenplatte nature reserve.

The long tour definitely needs culinary stops. Numerous beer gardens, cafés and restaurants invite you to linger.

THREE-LAKE-AREA

One of the most beautiful lake landscapes in Chiemgau is the Drei-Seen area. It includes the Weitsee, Mittersee and Lödensee lakes.

Far away from everyday life, the mountain lakes in the nature reserve offer a fantastic biking experience. Crystal-clear water and natural idylls offer rest and relaxation. The Lödensee promises optimal bathing fun for the family thanks to its shallow lake access and large shore areas.

Winter sports enthusiasts also get their money’s worth here. The Drei-Seen area is a very popular cross-country skiing route, especially for cross-country skiers.

RATZINGER HÖHE

Continue along the cycle path to Greimharting. You cross the village and start the ascent to the Ratzinger Höhe. The view is a real treat!

The Berggasthof Weingarten near Gattern is the perfect place to stop for refreshments. Here you can treat yourself to a cool beer or Radler. Refreshed, you can then make your way back to Prien.

TAUBENSEE

The “Eye of the Chiemgau” is one of the highest lakes in Germany.

The deep blue mountain lake can only be reached on foot or by mountain bike. In other words, an absolute natural idyll where you can relax far away from everyday life.

KAMPENWAND

The most famous mountain in the Chiemgau Alps is not only suitable for hikers. Our mountain bikers can also enjoy it here.

From the Yachthotel Chiemsee, drive to the next village “Bernau”. At the end of Bernau, take the last road on the right, where the road goes straight uphill. Follow the signs to the Seiser Alm, which is your first destination.

With a fantastic view of Lake Chiemsee, you can take a short break on the large meadow. Then continue straight ahead along the road towards Hintergschwendt. Turn left and head towards the Aigen parking lot, where the forest road climbs steeply uphill. At a crossroads, you can also make a detour to the well-known Maisalm (905m), just take a short left downhill. Otherwise, simply follow the road straight up the mountain. You will then reach the Gorialm (Dienstag’s Bikertreff) as the first alpine pasture, continue to the Schlechtenbergalm and then the last steep section is your destination, the Steinlingalm (1,467m) with a view of the imposing Kampenwand summit.

From here, it’s all on foot to the summit of the Kampenwand.

BIKE PARK SAMERBERG

You can reach the bike park comfortably with the Hochriesbahn cable car or you can take on the challenge and ride yourself “warm”.

The park is well maintained and offers a main descent, which is supplemented by various single trails and Northshore elements.

The main trail is easy to ride and also suitable for beginners and children. With lots of bends, tables, waves and wall rides, the course swings its way down to the valley. The course also offers plenty of fun for experts, especially as the more challenging obstacles can also be tackled in a targeted manner.

If you enjoy mountain tours by bike, you can try out alternative routes for different riding preferences and levels from there.
